I was there! (Olympics Edition)
2024 was the year of the Olympics!
When planning my trips for 2024, I was trying to decide where I wanted to go. I had a couple of places in my mind but somehow I decided that I wanted to go to the Paris. It just so happened that the Olympics would be in Paris two months after I would be there. I knew visiting Paris during the year of the Olympics would be so exciting. And it was! Nothing was officially closed at the time I went which I lucked out on. I was able to do and see everything I wanted to do without restrictions. While walking through the city and the airport, I saw some amazing things being built that would be for the Olympics!

What you first saw when stepping off the plane!
The city, itself, really showed the excitement for the Olympics with banners all over. Though, when walking along the Seine, I saw how disgusting it was and couldn’t believe people would swim in that. I thought, “There’s no way swimming in the Seine can be allowed!” Well, it did because people swam in the murky water… EWWW!!
My favorite part of the experience was when I decided to go to on a river cruise, and near the boat launch was a countdown to the Olympics. People were watching it countdown and take pictures it front of it. (It also just happened to be near the Eiffel Tower!) It was something really cool that I just happened upon!

They also were building the stands and “arenas” where players would play and fans would cheer. I walked out of the museum I was at and they were building this:
My favorite part of the whole thing was when the Olympics started, and as we were watching at work, I would always be like “I was there!” It got to the point where my co-workers just rolled their eyes in annoyance. It was amazing to see runners run past places I visited, or when the broadcast would show a place that I was at. While it’s fun to annoy my co-workers telling them “I was there!” while watching the games, it does also make me realize that the places I watched on TV when I was little that I thought I would never visit are now actual places that I have been. It’s surreal to say that I was there during the preparation for the Olympics in the year 2024. These will be memories that I never forget!
And just like the Olympics, here I come LA! On my next adventure!
