My Guide to London

Made for Tom and his wife, Colleen. Thanks for allowing me to help you!

If you know me, you know how much I love London. Like so much. So much so that it’s weird and I know that. But that’s another story for another time! When a co-worker of mine told me he would be going to London, I was so excited! I instantly knew I had to give him recommendations and tips…. and I thought why don’t I share them on here. So here they are!

Places to Eat:

● Borough Market-good lunch place! Get the Cornish Pasty!

● Udderlicious-best ice cream!

● Lambs Conduit St has some great cafes for breakfast

● Nandos!! - great chicken!

● Pret (a classic!) great for grab and go... you’ll literally find them everywhere!

● My Dutch Baby - great crepes (or pancakes as they call them!)

● Beigel Bake in brick lane for amazing pastries

Things to Eat:

● Bangers and Mash

● Cornish Pasty!!!!

● Beef/Chicken Pie

● Toffee Pudding

● Sunday Roast

Things to do:

I recommend getting lost in some areas because sometimes you’ll find the most amazing places. There are some like little alleys that reveal a bigger hidden square with cute cafes and restaurants!

● Greenwich - birthplace of time! Also so many films use this as a setting for London! Also they have the naval college there. And you can walk under the Thames!

● Imperial War Museum - my family loved this and they have an amazing Holocaust exhibit

● British Museum- see the Rosetta Stone! - FREE Go on a weekday when it’s not packed! And explore the area around it. There are so many beautiful places and hidden gems!

● V&A - if you have nothing else to do, this is a cool museum but not my favorite. - FREE

● National Gallery/Trafalgar Sq - if you love art, the National Gallery is amazing! - FREE

● Westminster Abbey - amazing historical church with some amazing people buried inside!

● St. Paul’s Cathedral - again, beautiful church! You can climb to the top too!

● Tower of London - this is a good tourist place and you have to check out Henry VIII’s cod piece! Also, the crows there are very specific that they bring new ones in when some die. And if you go here, you can also see the original Roman wall from 45 AD.

● Sherlock Holmes Museum - if you like Sherlock Holmes then you have to check out the museum.. If not, then I wouldn’t recommend it.

● Sir John Soanes Museum- Hidden Gem!! - such a cute museum in Bloomsbury with some amazing paintings from William Hogarth FREE

● Wallace collection- Hidden Gem!! - another cute museum in Marylebone. They have the famous Swing painting there. FREE

● British Library - next to Saint Pancras and is such a hidden gem because it’s not a big tourist museum. They have one of the four Magna Cartas and some other really neat stuff.

● Sky Garden for amazing views of London and a great place for dinner or just drinks.

If you have time, try to visit different areas of London! They are all so unique and you can find so many amazing places. It’s a big walking town making it easy to get it around. Sometimes I would just walk and discover amazing new restaurants and shops. Another way to get around is the tube which is so accessible. It’s easy to navigate and very cheap. Here’s a map of the all the lines! (And yes, I do have my favorite tube line!)

Tube Map 101: Trace your path with your finger to figure out which way you need to go! You can also use Google/Apple maps to help navigate the tube.

London is my favorite place in the entire world for so many reasons. If you ever need to recommendations for your London trip that is tailored towards you, I’d be honored to give you recs!!
